Another child seat recall was just announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this time for Combi USA’s Coccoro Convertible child seat. The specific model number is 8220 which has been in production since 2009. Early reports estimate that 40k or more units are part of this recall. From the release:
In the event of a crash, the car seat may not absorb an adequate amount of force, resulting in the force being transmitted to the car seat occupant.
Ouch. This seat was also part of a recall in 2014. Not a good sign for this product line.
If you own one of these seats, discontinue using it immediately and contact Combi at 1-888-232-3294, or by going to http://registration.combiusa.com/recall with reference number 610.
We hate hearing about these recalls because they usually mean someone was hurt which caused the recall. Be safe out there and get those car seat installs checked!
